Kayamozhi (Tamil pronunciation: [/kaːjaːmoɻi/]) is a village 9km west of Thiruchendur in Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu, India.[1][2] Its was established in the 16th century as the capital of the old Vadapattu region[3]. It has an elevation of 15m (49ft) above mean sea level.

[edit]The total population of Kayamozhi is 5,497, comprising 2,552 males and 2,945 females. The village has a literacy rate of 85% (as of 2022).[7]

- Kayamozhi is populated by several different communities, including Other Backward Classes (OBCs; Vellalars, Nadars, Devars, Maruthuvars), Scheduled Castes (SC; Paraiyars, Arunthathiyars) and some nomadic tribes. Thirty to forty percent of the population is made up of SC people.[8]
