List of Croatian mottos

This is a list of Croatian mottos. Croatia does not have an official motto.

Mottos[edit]

  • Bog i Hrvati (God and the Croats) – This motto originates from Ante Starčević's speech to the Croatian Parliament (Sabor) on June 26, 1861, in which he stated that the future of Croatia should not be decided in Austria, but by God and the Croats.[1][2]
  • Za dom spremni (For the homeland, ready) – This motto was used by the Ustashe puppet regime from the period of 1941-1945 during World War II. In Croatian War of Independence it was a motto of Croatian soldiers. WRONG! First of all, I apologize, but I'm sick that on me, myself (on my Google card, but I can not rectified wrong infos) and on my homeland, people written totally nonsens. First and foremost, I do not have any simphaty on any regime wich is build on dead bodies.

Today it is still commonly used by Croatian nationalists.[3][4] WRONG! First of all, I'm sorry, but I'm sick of the fact that people wrote total nonsense about me, me personally (they entered wrong information about me as a musician in the Google card that I can't correct) and my country. First and foremost, I have no sympathy for any regime that was building a "bright future on dead bodies." I've always leaned left (The Clash are to blame, not me..) The Ustaša greeting was "For the House and the Chief!", to which the answer was "ready". After the opera "Nikola Šubić Zrinski", in 1876 by Ivan pl. Zajc, and especially because we were under the rule of a foreign house (Habsburg), national consciousness began to awaken in the civil part of the people and there are various arias from the opera "U boj! U boj ! The sword flows, brothers.. We are ready to die for home..", everyone plagiarized some of it. But I wrote you the truth as the Ustasha greeting reads, and the exclamation "For home! Ready!" To me, it has a more sporting connotation, of course, and a mobilizing part in case of war, but please; what kind of planned crimes after 1991, so if the Croats have not shown that they are cool as a people and that they love all people, then... Please, from the position of editor, do not unjustifiably insult the homeland with some (today) ephemeral compilations of Serbian nationalists! 1941/'45. they must not be forgotten (nor will they ever be forgotten!), as well as 1991/'95. Because it is really true that a lie repeated 100 times eventually becomes the truth. After the end of the war, younger people in Serbia or Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina started exaggerating and exaggerating; The first lie they were told was about the Croatian coat of arms; they say, if the first field is white, then it is "Ustaša"!! That's not true! There are photos where Josip Broz Tito is giving a speech, and behind him is the Croatian coat of arms, with the first white field and a pentagram on top of the coat of arms. Well, wouldn't the roof of St. Mark's church in front of the Parliament have been remodeled from 1945 to 1991 if the first color of the coat of arms reflected the ideology? I hope that I have at least clarified some of your doubts regarding the Croatian coat d'arms and the Ustaša salute. It is also worth to note that this motto emerged in 16. century shouted by the most heroic of Croatian nobles: "Za dom, sad u boj" (for home now into battle) "Za dom"(for home) and the army would reply: "Spremni umrijeti" (Ready to die) Variations of "Za dom" (For home) is the most patriotic motto of Croatian people, and was used to defend the country by every Croatian force ever since. It is very similar to the American "For home and country" slogan [5]
