Meliden Football Club is a Welsh football team based in Meliden, Denbighshire, Wales. The team play in the North Wales Coast East Premier Division.

History

[edit]

The club reformed for the 2008–09 season and initially joined the Clwyd Football League before gaining promotion to the Welsh Alliance League in 2012.[2] They played seven seasons in Division Two, with their best finishing position being fifth in the first season.[3]

In March 2019 the club announced that at the end of the 2018–19 season they would resign from the Welsh Alliance League and rejoin the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Football League.[4] They finished the 2019–20 season in sixth place in a season curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.[5]

In 2020 the team was accepted into the Premier Division of the new North Wales Coast East Football League.

In 2023 Meliden have played their way into two semi finals, the furthest they have come in both competitions (Cookson league cup and NWCFA intermediate challenge Cup) sadly losing both semi finals but still an achievement for a young Meliden side led by one of the youngest managers around Deej Hobson (24).

With the club now being ran by one of the youngest chairman’s around in Tom Fletcher(28) they have a very young exciting team managed by Warren Adam and his assistant Dan Sleet. The club finished 5th in the 23/24 league campaign and made it to Fifth Round of the FAW amateur trophy, the best finish since they were re-founded.
