Million-follower Detective (traditional Chinese: 百萬人推理; simplified Chinese: 百万人推理), is an upcoming Taiwanese crime thriller television series on Netflix. The series is directed and written by Shaun Su and stars Ekin Cheng, Shou Lou, Patty Lee, Wang Po-chieh, Lee Lee-zen and Buffy Chen in the lead roles.

Million-follower Detective is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2023.

Premise[edit]

A mysterious woman rises to fame and becomes a powerful influencer after accurately foretelling the murders of several social-media influencers.[1]

Additionally, Taiwanese YouTubers Zeng Wen-han, Qian Qian, Lin Da, Chiang Chih-wei and Ironbull will appear in cameos.[5]

Development[edit]

In March 2022, Hong Kong actor Ekin Cheng was seen on set in Eastern District of Taipei, Taiwan.[6] Bossdom Digiinnovation denied the rumours that he would be appearing in the third season of Light the Night in the same month and confirmed Cheng's involvement in an upcoming crime thriller series.[7] Bossdom and Gift Pictures announced the series in April as part of the Taipei Golden Horse Film Project Promotion.[8][9] The series would be directed and written by Shaun Su and starred Ekin Cheng, Shou Lou, Patty Lee, Wang Po-chieh, Lee Lee-zen and Buffy Chen in lead roles.[8] On July 26, 2022, Zhang Yong Zheng, Kao Ying Hsuan, Chou Ming-Yu, Kent Tsai, Isaac Yang and Zhan Huai-Yun were added to the cast.[3]

Filming[edit]

Principal photography began in March 2022 in Taipei, Taiwan,[10] and took place at Red House Theater and Neihu District.[4] Filming was wrapped in late May.[11]

Release[edit]

The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in summer 2023.[12]
