Miss Grand Angola is a national beauty pageant title awarded to women chosen to represent the Angola at the Miss Grand International contest.[1][2][3] The title was first mentioned in 2013 when a 26-year-old model, Nádia de Vasconcelos, was assigned by a London-based event organizer, Beauties of Africa Inc, to represent Angola at the inaugural edition of Miss Grand International in Thailand, but Nádia did not joined the contest for undisclosed reasons.[4]

Since 2021, the right the send Angolan representatives to compete at Miss Grand International has belonged to a computer engineer, Márcia de Menezes, who was also the country representative at the mentioned international platform in 2021.[5][6]

Since their first competition in 2014, the highest placement reached by Angolan representatives is the top 20 finalists which was obtained by Meriam Kaxuxwena and Márcia de Menezes in 2015 and 2021, respectively.[5][7]

History[edit]

Angola made its debut at the Miss Grand International pageant in 2015 when an Angolan Australian model from Sydney acquired the license and dominated herself as the country's representative for the international competition held in Thailand,[5] where she was named one of the final 20.[7]

After five years of absence, Angola returned to the Miss Grand International again in 2021; the license was purchased by a Luanda-based computer engineer, Márcia de Menezes, who then appointed herself to compete in the 2021 international contest in Thailand,[2][8][9] and won the Best National Costume award as well as qualifying for the top 20 finalists.[5]

In 2022, the license was purchased by an event organizer, Edueni António. Under António's directionship, the first edition of the Miss Grand Angola pageant was held in September 2023.[10][11]
