Gutierrezia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to western North America and western South America.[4] Plants of this genus are known generally as snakeweeds or matchweeds.[5][1][6][7][8][9] Some species have been called greasewood.[10] They are annual or perennial plants or subshrubs with yellow or white flowers.[4]
These plants contain chemical compounds which can be toxic to livestock and some are considered weeds.[11]
