Spain

[edit]

Wasn't Spain also a client state? Vnnen (talk) 20:38, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. And Catalonia was annexed by France. --SMP - talk (en) - talk (ca) 17:18, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Why it doesn't read there in the template? --Vnnen (talk) 16:40, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Illyria

[edit]

Illyria was annexed to France, not a client state, yes? --Jfruh (talk) 00:58, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Too much States

[edit]

The list of the Napoleonic client states in Italy in this template is too long, because it contains some authorities which were not states according to the international law. The list of the puppet states of Napoleonic France existing in 1801 is contained in the article 11 of the Treaty of Luneville (as the list of 1797 can be found in various articles of the Teraty of Campo Formio): they were only the Cisalpine and the Ligurian Republics, together with the Elvetian and the Batavian Republics. In fact, a foundamental characteristic of a state, is the sovereignity and, consequentely, the international recognition. For example, Piedmont was put under militar occupation after the invasion of 1798, and remained under militar occupation until its annexation to France in 1802: "republics"" as the Subalpine one, were only comparable to local authorities, because the statal authority, even legally, was always in the hands of the French army.--Cusio (talk) 16:56, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gozo

[edit]

Should Gozo (independent state) be included in this template? The Gozitan Nation was a state created in rebellion to France, and allied with the Kingdom of Naples/Sicily (it even used its flag), rather than a Napoleonic creation. Perhaps French occupation of Malta is more appropriate to be included in this template, although I don't know if it qualifies as a state. Xwejnusgozo (talk) 17:18, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Napoleonic creations

[edit]

States like the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and Massa and Carrara weren't Napoleonic creations, in my opinion we should classify those who are actually states created in Napoleonic era like the Kingdom of Etruria and those who existed already and were only subject to France.MarcusVetus 13:30, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
