References[edit]

An "unreferenced" banner has been added to this family tree (in March 2015). Is anyone able to add suitable references?— Rod talk 12:33, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I added some references, but this has changed with a comment of "references do not belong on navigation boxes". Looking at Wikipedia:Family trees this should probably be converted to Ahnentafel eg Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury#Ancestors where I have added references.— Rod talk 15:28, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Generally speaking it is a bad idea to include references in navigation boxes because navigation boxes are supposed to merely summarize the content of Wikipedia articles. (The same applies to dab pages.) Every piece of information on Wikipedia that is likely to be challenged should be sourced but the appropriate way to do that is to add citations to an article. We could create an article called Coleridge family and then move to it the citations that appear on the Template:Coleridge family tree; confer Keynes family and Template:John Maynard Keynes. See also Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Citing sources and Wikipedia:SUMMARY#References.
In the case of this infobox no universally accepted solution emerged since I first made this point back in January, so let's just have the references included in it. Omnipaedista (talk) 22:15, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
