Linking to 2021 models instead of 2020 models.[edit]

@5225C: I understand the merits behind WP:NAVNOREDIRECT but I don't think it applies here. Looking at the example on that page, it makes sense not to create a redirect for US presidents for example as all would have their own article. However, the 2021 cars are clearly different topics, as outlined with multiple 2021 cars having their own articles, thus surely the distinct topic exception applies? @FozzieHey: I agree for the 2021 cars that have their own articles. However, we are considering the RB16B, the MCL35M, and the FW43B as B-specs of the 2020 cars and they are covered on the 2020 articles (see previous discussions 1, 2, and 3). The redirects don't go to a specific section because we're considering them as subtopics (and because the overall structure of the article doesn't really split neatly in two), so overall I believe WP:NAVNOREDIRECT applies in this situation for these three links.

(edit conflict)From WP:NAVNOREDIRECT - There are exceptions to [not use redirected links in navigation templates]: where a redirect represents a distinct sub-topic within a larger article and is not merely a variant name, - instances where the 2021 and 2020 car are in the same article are cases where the 2021 car is considered a variant of the 2020 car, rather than a distinct car (which is why they don't get thier own article) and I therefore don't think this excpetion applies here.
