August 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm FlightTime. Please refrain from changing genres, as you did to Template:Punk even if you provide a/some source(s), you'll still need to start a discussion on the article talk page to allow editors who regular watch that page a chance to discuss the reliability of the source(s) you provided. One reason is, genre sources can easily be considered an opinion and not fact. Genre's are a touchy subject here on Wikipedia and without discussion/consensus, regardless of your source(s), your addition or removal will most likely be reverted. Your edit has been reverted and archived in the page history for now.

Unsourced genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive.

Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 20:57, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please follow Wikipedia's rules and guidelines, we all do. Other option, have your IP blocked. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:45, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

September 2021[edit]

Stop icon Do not use multiple IP addresses to disrupt Wikipedia, like you did at Template:Rock music. Such attempts to avoid detection, circumvent policies or evade blocks or sanctions will not succeed. You are welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, but your recent edits have been reverted or removed. If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Long-term abuse, block evasion by Special:Contributions/2601:C7:C201:C640:0:0:0:0/64. October 2021[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Template:Pop music. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 14:17, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I'm not in an edit war at all; I was simply correcting a mistake I had made. What's more, this is the first edit I have made to the Pop music template in a while. 47.36.25.163 (talk) 14:19, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by inserting unpublished information or your personal analysis into an article, as you did at Template:Calypso music. Binksternet (talk) 00:16, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was completely unaware that there was such a concept as "original research". 47.36.25.163 (talk) 00:18, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Original research is expected of authors outside of Wikipedia, but inside Wikipedia it is not allowed.
I tagged you for violating the policy because you defined reggae as calypso with this edit. Nobody else defines reggae as calypso. Binksternet (talk) 00:29, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Then why is Reggae still in the template?

Hello 47.36.25.163, you can find some help how to edit at Help:Introduction. I've reverted your contribution here, for this see H:FOREIGNLINK. It may be frustrating at the fist time getting aware of so many rules, on the other hand it doesn't help if your contributions worsen the articles. --Cyfal (talk) 20:36, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A request (reply)[edit]

Hello, unfortunately I am unable to grant that permission. Jazz, Hip hop and Heavy Metal are all semi-protected pages, so you have to have to be an autoconfirmed user to edit them. Heartmusic678 (talk) 11:14, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

December 2021[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Now that you have had a few months to discover the rules here (and a few warnings about adding unsourced genres), it's time for you to start collaborating rather that continuing with genre addition. Your edit summary, for example, I heard this on a station that specializes in neo-psychedelia. is the very opposite of verifiability. Please heed the warnings and add only well-sourced genres. Thanks, — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 01:08, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Sundayclose. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you unlinked one or more redlinks from List of jazz genres. Often redlinks can be helpful, so we don't remove them just because they are red. They help improve Wikipedia by attracting editors to create needed articles.

In addition, clicking on the "What links here" special link (in the Wikipedia Toolbox at left) on a missing article shows how many—and which—articles depend on that article being created. This can help prioritize article creation. Redlinks are useful! Please only remove a redlink if you are pretty sure that it is to a non-notable topic and not likely ever to be created. Thanks! You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Red Dirt (music). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary, as you did at Template:Soul music. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:04, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
