Portugal

[edit]

Hi, I don't know if you have seen this - https://topdisco.blogspot.com/search?q=Abba&m=1 but this a list of music certifications in Portugal that have happened in the past. Apparently it comes from this book "Os Profissionais do Disco. Um Estudo da Indústria Fonográfica em Portugal" by José Soares Neves. He had full access thanks to certification bodies from that time. I would still like to see it directly and not through a blog. I have tried to contact him but had no response. Apparently it is in some libraries in Portugal. So if you have some better online access maybe you could find it out. Of course if you have time. Good day. Dhoffryn (talk) 09:47, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dhoffryn. Yes I've seen this blog in the past. According to Worldcat, at least four U-Libraries have the book. Trying to contact them could be potentially a resource or even try here in Wikipedia. Regarding ScreenRant at the highest-attended concerts, I also tend to believe they have no authority for record sales, but I guess WP:CONTEXTMATTERS could potentially apply sometimes. Brazil certs by PMB

[edit]

Hello, I hope you're well. I'm trying to find an old discussion on a Talk page here on Wikipedia about music certifications in Brazil, where it was mentioned that a Roberto Carlos album was certified 12x diamond . Someone said they had contacted PMB, which clarified that sales are counted based on the actual date they occurred, not the year of certification. I'm looking for this because a fan of Xuxa has been adding sales data to the Portuguese Wikipedia based solely on the release year and combining physical sales with certification numbers. I need proof that the sales are indeed counted based on the release date. Do you happen to remember if this conversation was with you? If not, I apologize. Thank you in advance. Hi Markus WikiEditor. I'm doing well, thanks, and I hope the same for you! I don't remember participated in threads for Latin or other regional certifications setups. Have you already tried to find the thread in Wikiprojects of Latin Music, or at the talk of the template about certs? In any case, you might ask Muhandes. Cheers --Apoxyomenus (talk) 05:05, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.I'm going to look for it and ask Muhandes. Markus WikiEditor (talk) 15:39, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for butting in but that conversation I believe it could have been in between TheWikiholic and Muhandes users. Here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Certification_Table_Entry/Archive_12#h-PMB_certifications_levels-20241202140500 Dhoffryn (talk) 15:50, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's it! Thanks! I think the guy made a mistake in the multiplication, he was supposed to multiply by 300 and not by 600... Anyway, this is still confusing. Markus WikiEditor (talk) 17:08, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. It just seemed like a huge amount. Harout user while he was still active here suggested that he had a suspiction that newer certifications could have been going by certification dates (Whitney and one of her singles was in question) but I have lost track what really goes on anyways.
