I just went a double checked, and I think the images your composite was made from were actually taken by Australians, not US navy. Since they're aussie, crown copyright applies, and it's non-free. A number of odd, Tojo-like edits have been showing-up as parkinsonism again. While I've seen Tojoism in action before, this is the first time I've ever dealt with it directly. Hi Chris, do you know if the sides of a Mushiki are also made from bamboo? It looks more like some kind of bark; at any rate, the linear markings seem unlike any part of the bamboo plant that comes to mind. Unless it be the 'bark' of a very large bamboo, ironed flat ... ? IHO did not decide to only 'sea of japan' naming use.

The IHO declined the name use both "East Sea" and "Sea of Japan". They did not decide to only sea of japan name use.

1. IHO cheif said, "these discussions to the next conference."

2. Previous IHO's map delete that only "sea of japan" name use.

3. The latest meeting of the International Hydrographic Organization ended without any changes, but South Korea is happy because the head of the organization suggested the moniker “Sea of Japan” be deleted from the world’s oceanographic maps until an agreement on the disputed name can be reached.[3]

4. so, IHO did not decide to exclusively "sea of japan" name use.

According to IHO's technical resolution,

It is recommended that where two or more countries share a given geographical feature (such as, for example, a bay, strait, channel or archipelago) under a different name form, they should endeavour to reach agreement on fixing a single name for the feature concerned. I want to use a photo of yours on a protest sign. The photo says, "u can use this image freely for any purpose, including commercial use, provided that you license it under one of the above licenses. My suggestion is to use the following text: This Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons image is from the user Chris 73 and is freely available at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Whale_meat_on_dish.jpg under the creative commons cc-by-sa 2.5 license." What does this mean? It seems to mean I have to put these words on the photo, which is about the same as saying I can't use the photo as a photo. Is this correct? I'm not trying to license the phote. I tried to understand GNU Free Document License but it does not seem to apply to photos. The Creative Commons seems to be about commercial use only. What or how do you want to use the photo? The text usually goes e.g. in the subtitle or the credits, but this depends on how the photo is used. I want to use it on a save the whales protest sign. Not an article, or caption, or subtitled movie, or with credits, it's a protest sign-I wouldn't have to protest if whales or the poor or the innocent had voices and words. The point of a photograph at times is to convey 1000 different words-which this photo does. If I add text people will ignore the image and focus on the words. Watch people at an art gallery or a museum some time-they spend more time on the words and lose the image. Is it possible to use this image as an image, without words?

Technically, you would have to have a small print at the bottom of the poster with the credits. That does not have to be on the photo. You could also put it on the back of the poster. However, realistically, I don't think anybody would mind or care about the particular license. I added the license so others don't use the images commercially without continuing to share the photo, and have no problem with you using it on the poster. So go ahead and just use the picture. Hi. I would prefer to keep the license as is. The only difference for you is that in the credits you would have to mention the CC-BY-SA license. This license allows free commercial use, so it does not cost you any more, you only have to add a few words to the credit. Maybe your publisher misunderstood the license term, please check. I am currently preparing a textbook on Judaism to be published commercially by Routledge, and would like to incorporate the photo of the Speyer mikveh found at <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/40/Judenbad_Speyer_6_View_from_the_first_room_down.jpg>. Notwithstanding the disclaimer accompanying the graphic, my editors have requested that I contact you for explicit permission--as well as any other instructions you might have about how to credit the picture (and to be honest, it is not at all clear to me what your relationship is to the photo).

Hi. The photo is a photo of mine. You can use it for the textbook free of charge, provided you give credits as indicated on the image page, I.e. the attribution to Wikipedia, and that the image is licensed under the creative commons license. I like you have lived in numerous places throughout the world and have a particular love for Japan, hence my SN.

I would really like to you your image on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advertising the one of the advertisement from the Edo period. I read the license agreement but am a bit confused. I would like to use this image in a brochure that will be distributed for non-commercial purposes through my work. But we are a non-profit organisation and I would just like to make sure that I stay clear of any issues, would you please get back to me when you get a chance? Can be small print. If you don't have enough space on the brochure, you can shorten the text if necessary, as long as Wikipedia and the CC-By-Sa 2.5 is mentioned. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Would like to point out something that you may wish to address, and please feel free to tell me to pull my head in!

When displaying the Australian Flag from the canton, by heraldic and vexillogical convention the Union Jack should be display in the first quarter, ie top-left quadrant -even though the flag appears 'back to front'.

Hi Momusufan, thanks for the comments on Tojo. I'd rather not have my talk page protected, the vandalism is not really a major bother to me. Plus, my talk page is not that much frequented. As for the edit summaries, I don't mind these either. Anybody with two brain cells looking at it will know who's the real moron in these edits. Oversighting them would be a lot of work, since these kind of edit summaries are also found on a number of other pages, where Tojo reverts my edits. I believe that your photo (Yoyogi National Gymnasium - Swim.jpg) is actually the smaller of the two buildings comprising the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, the picture having been taken from outside the original swim hall (looking roughly South West). As far as I remember (and have been able to verify so far) the larger was the one that housed the swimming at the 1964 Olympics, and this one housed gymnastics. You can see the interior of the larger hall in this You Tube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj-N0BGoLmo&feature=player_embedded#) and you can see the floor layouts just a bit in this archtectural article (http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Olympic_Arena.html). Neither building seems to be used for swimming now (though my sources aren't very good on this), and the venue was not on the 2016 Olympic bit venue list for swimming. I am still looking for better documentation on this, but am planning to add this photo to a Gallery in "1964 Summern Olympics", as well as the "Yoyogi National Gynmnasium" article (which discusses only the larger building as though it's the whole thing). Perhaps this photo should be renamed. I can't verify right now (I keep getting SNAFU messages) if this is used anywhere other than in your gallery. WP:CANVASS is completely different and you should know that. WP:CANVASS is about alerting people of discussions and where the discussions could be unfairly swayed in one direction, or too many people are contacted directly on their talk page. None of those apply here. Chris 73's notice is for very long-term cross-wiki spammer, m:Keith Bridgeman AKA General Tojo (talk · contribs), not a discussion; it's helpful to every non-banned user, not just one side of a discussion; and it's only on three or fewer talk pages per wiki, not user talk. Thanks for the comment. For many articles, there is a group of editors that take care of this particular article (reasons being personal interest etc). My goal was to alert these editors about the commercial cross-wiki spamming of their articles, something that they won't notice if i write it on a noticeboard somewhere else.(Note: commercial in a sense that Keith Bridgeman is trying to make money by ripping off dead authors, but judging from the Amazon sales ranking his work sells very slow and I believe so far his costs by far outweigh the income :) Hence I believe that the minor inconvenience of adding the note to three articles per wiki is acceptable. dein herrliches bild mit den kirschblüten war genau das, was wir für die mai-ausgabe unseres (gedruckten) gemeindeblatts gesucht hatten. Indirekt ist es dadurch auch online auf der seite der gemeinde <www.heimatgemeinde.de> – als pdf und als gif-Bild, allerdings in stark verringerter Auflösung.

Ok, CC-license means you don't have to pay, but it is not "free". You have to include the credits on the page. The image is free for commercial use, including changing the image (like adding the bands name etc.). Only the citation is required, and that the image and its derivative (e.g. your cover) is under the CC-BY-SA License. For details of the license please see the image page.
