Warning severity

A level 4 warning for this editor seems a bit severe for seemingly good faith edits. Yes, they are edit warring, but it is not vandalism and it's a bit bitey. Would you please consider revising this to be a level 2 or 3 warning on edit warring including some extra encouragement to discuss each of their proposed changes on the talk page and to also register an account? Daniel Quinlan (talk) 03:42, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing. IanDBeacon (talk) 03:54, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. The revised warning still says "vandalism", but it's already better. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 04:04, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just an FYI - Here is another article https://www.primeminister.am/en/press-release/item/2023/07/07/Nikol-Pashinyan-meeting/ (from today) proving my edit (revisions) were correct. I do not understand how someone (IanDBeacon) edits something wrong (over and over), I correct(over and over), and then I get told that I am the one that is vandalizing, and get banned. Sevkhatch (talk) 22:14, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

We will take this to WP:DRN if needed. IanDBeacon (talk) 22:19, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This needs to be resolved soon. False information is being decimated, and the facts are being suppressed. Sevkhatch (talk) 22:24, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually Archives908 (over and over) Sevkhatch (talk) 22:21, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sevkhatch why don't you bring this to @Archives908's talk page? IanDBeacon (talk) 23:30, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This article https://www.primeminister.am/en/press-release/item/2023/07/07/Nikol-Pashinyan-meeting/ is from today. I also told @Archives908 that misinformation is being used. I offered several sources (some were sources of news outlets' youtube page, which I did not know at the time, is unacceptable to wiki). My last sources were spot on, yet @Archives908 continued to revert the info back to the wrong info, and continued to accuse me of vandalizing. I am new to this and learning, but that does not mean my sources, or information that I provided were/are vandalism (everyone who reads Armenian news knows Sarafian is the Chairman of the Party, has a higher rank in the Party than Setrak Ajemian, and BTW that is the correct legal spelling of Ajemian, he is a US and Armenian citizen). I was just trying to keep the integrity of the page, and getting very frustrated with his responses and reverting things back to the wrong information, and now I am banned/blocked from making those changes. Sevkhatch (talk) 01:07, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sevkhatch- cut the theatrics and let's get things clear. You are not new here- you have been editing Social Democrat Hunchakian Party since 2019. You have also self-admitted to being a member of the political party at Talk:Social Democrat Hunchakian Party#Leadership, which is a WP:COI you failed to make known for 5 years. In addition, I have warned you several times about YouTube not being a WP:RS, yet you continued to reinstate your preferred version. You should have taken the time to review the policies I sent you, rather than engaging in an WP:EDITWAR. I recommend you WP:COOL down, take time to review the relevant wiki policies, and seek to attain a WP:CON through dialogue and civil discussion. Hostility and playing victim will get you nowhere. IanDBeacon- thank you for pinging me on my talk page, and for your diligence in this matter. Regards, Archives908 (talk) 01:10, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, theatrics? Thank your for showing that you have an ego and an agenda.
I registered on Wikipedia in 2019. How often have I edited (that info is also available is it not?)?
Lets just be realistic about things. You got your ego hurt that you were putting up wrong information, and a newbie was changing your incorrect information.
If it was only the youtube references, you would have been totally fine with the last edits I made with the references coming from legit sources; RFE/RL, Armenian Prime Minister official website, ect...
Hell you even took down the additional links to the wikipedia pages of the prominent Hunchaks that I added (how is adding wikipedia links to a wikipedia page vandalism?
Shushanik Kurghinian
Mari Beyleryan
Aram Achekbashian
Ghazaros Aghayan
Kegham Vanigian
Sargis Mubayeajian
And lastly, as far as being a member of the SDHP goes, I was trying to have you back off of your egotistical changes by saying that, as I said before I am new to this did not know all the rules and thought by saying it I would more legitimacy to my changes (being new to all this), I was only interested in the integrity of the info.
Seems to me your only interested in having your edits be the final edits.
Hopefully some level headed individuals will look at the changes and realize that 1. the information I was providing is actually correct and 2. you have an ego problem. I would love to see what the WP:DRN has to say about the edits and your conduct. IanDBeacon
Have a good day. Sevkhatch (talk) 16:33, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I stand with @Archives908's point. DRN may not be needed at this point as of yet. It appears you may have a conflict of interest. IanDBeacon (talk) 16:44, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So I made a mistake by falsely claiming something, but you guys @Archives908@IanDBeaconare value false information over actual facts on wikipedia.
Good luck with that mentality.
@danielquinlan Sevkhatch (talk) 20:06, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're missing the point- you can WP:BUILD this encyclopedia, but do it right. I value facts and am happy to have made over 15,000 contributions to this project and have learned how to be a better editor along the way. If you don't know how to edit or what sources to use, then LEARN, and stop making excuses and pointing fingers for your own shortcomings. I'm done with this conversation, hope you can learn something from all this :) Archives908 (talk) 21:29, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rationale for extending extended-confirmed protection to the entire World Central Kitchen article?

Hi. I'm not very familiar with the custom of topic-based page protections. The policy states "all pages broadly related to a topic, as well as parts of other pages that are related to the topic". The page was already partially protected in regards to any information regarding the incident in Gaza, and there has been no vandalism.

Is this the norm of topic-based protections? E.g. it is not banned to edit the article Legality of conversion therapy because of the "gender-related contentious topics; or the biography of Wang Zhi'an merely because it contains information about him criticising Falun Gong. I was about to add some information regarding past World Central Kitchen responses to natural disasters. Y. Dongchen (talk) 01:49, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. I mistook your addition of the template. I'll ask the administrator who made the decision. Y. Dongchen (talk) 01:52, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
