BMT Brighton Line

[edit]

Hey Lenny Marks. I see you are interested in NYC Subway, in South Brooklyn, that's where I am from. I know these places. I live here for 29 years, and I've made a lot of photos of it. Also I prepare Russian version, since my native language is Russian. I see you know Hebrew. Unfortunately I don't. So if you can, can you put my (and not my) photos and videos of Brighton Line into Hebrew wiki? Thanks.GK tramrunner (talk) 00:38, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GK tramrunner, thank you for reaching out to me. As far as I can tell, there is no Hebrew Wikipedia page that currently exists for the BMT Brighton Line, and it is therefore impossible for me to add anything to it. If you have a specific article in Hebrew Wikipedia that you think can benefit from an image that you took, please let me know and I'd be happy to take a look. (There is an article about the whole B Line, for example)--Lenny Marks (talk) 11:05, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lenny Marks I guess, you can use my photos, in Hebrew version of Q (New York City Subway service). As well as in similar articles. GK tramrunner (talk) 03:28, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Donald Albury. Thank you for bring this to my attention. While I generally check MOS while making edits, the mistakes you pointed out were made do to a misreading on my part of the applicable MOS section. I now see it mentions the first sub-division only. Rajputana

[edit]

Why are targeting Rajputs . You are from another country and know nothing about Rajputana . I am living in Rajasthan you fuc**ing moronn trying to teach me about my religion and cast just shut up you idiiiiot HistorianOP (talk) 11:32, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HistorianOP I am not targeting you or anyone, I was simply explaining on your talk page that as per WP:VERIFY, you should cite your edits with a citation template. I have zero problem with your edit, and would be happy for you to make it, other than the fact that you did not cite any source. Your language towards me in this comment, however, is rude and slightly offensive and I do not think it was called for. It is inappropriate to disparage another User on their talk page instead of having a constructive discussion. I am sorry that you feel I was "trying to teach you about your religion," but I certainly don't believe I made any comments about you, or your religion, which I am unaware of. Please try to be civil, and I hope you can make the edit with proper citations.--Lenny Marks (talk) 11:50, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nemours Mansion and Gardens

[edit]

Hello, I would like to kindly ask you to un-revert the clarifying changes I made to the Nemours Mansion and Gardens page. These changes were clarifying names and updating information about the mansion and gardens themselves such as the incorrectly listed size of the ground and the incorrect number of floors in the house itself, also the name changes for statues and gardens are taken directly from the Estates maps themselves and are not incorrect. All of these changes are not opinionated at all and are simple clarifications, especially the size and floor number changes. Thank you for your time Matthew C123 (talk) 14:02, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Matthew C123 Hi there! I understand that the edits you have made may be innocuous, however I strongly advise you to consult the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, or to read the sections How to disclose a COI and COI editing in the conflict of interest policy. I understand that you may be merely trying to add accurate information but you must disclose conflicts of interest on a given article. I would suggest that in the meantime, you request that the edits you was are made by other users, as explained in the guide. As a side point, another issue with the edits was that they did not cite sources in the article, which is always preferable. I know this is a lot of information do please feel free to ask me, or the more expirienced users at WP:Teahouse any questions. Best, --Lenny Marks (talk) 14:26, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, So to clarify in order for it to be changed I have to go to the talk page and request edits and cannot correct any information myself? Also you seem to have forgotten to sign your last talk edit on my page. Thank you for your time. Matthew C123 (talk) 14:11, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you added this while I was replying to your first question. While I am not an expert, I believe that this is the case. I think you will probably find the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide helpful. If you have more questions you can ask me, but there are also forums on Wikipedia for policy questions, such as: WP:Teahouse for new users, and WP:Reference desk.--Lenny Marks (talk) 14:26, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can't think of a good subject headline soooo...

[edit]

You made a mistake. You accidentally reverted an edit that says that Audra McDonald is German. She was born in West Berlin, which is in Germany and anyone born in Germany is German. 2603:6080:A700:1C39:9938:A072:8D7:C819 (talk) 18:54, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thank you for telling me, but I actually noticed before. If you check the page you'll see that the edit was restored (though I changed the wording slightly). The problem was that the citation for the source which confirmed the edit was at the start of the sentence instead of after the statement, so I didn't notice it. Sorry about the confusion. By the way, I noticed your IP has made quite a few edits; Have you considered making an account to edit from? Thanks, and sorry again, --Lenny Marks (talk) 19:41, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Nader proposed for deletion

[edit]

Lenny, I looked at this article and then did some searching. For starters, I found this.[1] Also, Google Books turned up multiple articles which are mostly bound newspaper articles, not actual books.

I think Mr. Nader is likely notable so I'm removing the PROD tag. I believe deleting an article which is possibly notable should be discussed before deletion. (I don't think that's an official rule - just my opinion).

Feel free to take this article to AfD.

Thanks for helping with article quality and reliability!

--A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 01:23, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @A. B. Thanks for your efforts. My concern was (and still is) that many of the sources are in essence about the art gallery he runs and therefore do not constitute significant coverage of the man himself. I will take a deeper look myself before deciding whether to bump to article to AfD for further disscussion. Thanks again! -- Lenny Marks (talk) 01:40, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely not an open-and-shut keep as currently written. Thanks again, --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 01:47, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Polygraph

[edit]

Hi. Regarding this addition by you of a fact tag, does the the citation at the end of the paragraph not support that one line? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 15:09, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nightscream. From a cursory search, I did not find any support for the statement in that book, however if you find a mention of it feel free to remove the tag. Happy editing! -- Lenny Marks (talk) 15:30, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lenny Marks: So you have a copy of the book, then, and you looked through the index for mention of Pollard? Was he not in the index? Nightscream (talk) 15:48, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Nightscream I accessed a digital version and conducted a word search for Pollard, which returned no results. It did, however, return for Walker. Lenny Marks (talk) 15:57, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lenny Marks: Okay, thanks. Nightscream (talk) 16:03, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Brother Speed Motorcycle Club

[edit]

Sir, In accordance with the Wikipedia Dispute Resolution page, I would like to discuss with you several innacurate statements you keep posting regarding the Brother Speed Motorcycle Club. I am new to Wikipedia and how to correct falsehoods on it, so please bear with me. Brb232 (talk) 21:45, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I have started a discussion about the issue here, on the article's talk page. I would suggest that you go there and post what you think the problems are. Lenny Marks (talk) 21:49, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not opposed to that, however you seem to be reposting stuff and ignoring what others have written on this subject. What would you suggest I do if you base part of your opinion regarding this club (which I happen to be a member of) when your cited reference(s) are full of gross errors, falsehoods, and lies? Furthermore, you don't reference things that are true such as charitable works, community efforts, etc. Brb232 (talk) 21:53, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, for starters, I did not add that information to the article. I simply undid your removal it. That is because Wikipedia has policies about removing content, namely: information that cites what Wikipedia considers a reliable source can't be removed even if you personally think or know it to be false. You have to provide your own sourced information to contradict it. Let's continue this conversation at the discussion page though, so other editors can get involved and benefit Talk:Brother_Speed_Motorcycle_Club#"Criminal"_status_and_COI_edits Lenny Marks (talk) 22:07, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your time. No reason to get aggressive. I'm simply trying to have the statements on Wikipedia be as accurate as possible without false claims and outright lies. I will move to the other page you've referenced and hope we can make some progress there. Regards! Brb232 (talk) 22:16, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the post on my users page. I am still trying to figure this out an I appreciate your help. I have mentioned that a reference to a link that doesn't exist be removed from the page in question. I have added that to the page's discussion page as you requested. Did I do that correctly? Brb232 (talk) 22:25, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I hope I apologize if I was coming off as agressive, that was not my intention. I will try to examine the references. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 23:03, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Whitgift School, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Telegraph. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hall Airport merger into Kaufman, Texas

[edit]

Howdy! I notice you recently dePROD'd the Hall Airport article and merged it with Kaufman, Texas. I'm certain you did so in good faith, but you overlooked something important: the airport is closed. It no longer shows up in the FAA airport search, and according to the list of airports in Texas, it closed circa 2010, although the editor did not cite the source of this information. Since the airport didn't clearly meet WP:GNG or WP:NBUILD, I don't think it warrants a mention on the Kaufman, Texas, page, which is the reason I didn't AfD/merge it. Carguychris (talk) 13:37, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for letting me know! I did nodice that on the List of airports in Texas page it said "(closed?)" with a question mark, but the link for the Texas DOT database still worked and it seems to come up on Google Maps (not that that is authoritative), so I assumed it was still open and that that was a mistake. Are you saying that it's confirmed that it is closed? -- Lenny Marks (talk) 13:46, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
TxDOT does not update their information very frequently. The FAA does. The airport not only doesn't show up in the airport search, it no longer shows up on the local VFR sectional chart. (The 2010 date is probably based on when it vanished from the sectional chart.) If it no longer appears in FAA documents, it's safe to conclude that it's not open to the public. Carguychris (talk) 21:39, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
FYI I went ahead and RFD'd the redirect. Discussion here. Carguychris (talk) 21:59, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lenny, this is Ben Hur

[edit]

Hi Lenny, I decided to open an wiki account because I’m Ben Hur the voice actor who voiced Kimo from Super Duper Sumos. It’s not Ben Hurston and yes I can see that it could be considered a prank but that is my real name. And anyways it’s verified on the show credits and IMDb. So if you can change it to Ben Hur that would be awesome. Thanks Lenny. Benhuractor (talk) 20:33, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll take a look! Thanks for reaching out as it's probably best that you don't change it yourself given the conflict of interest. If I find a source to support the change, I'll put it in. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 20:38, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I left a message on your talk page explaining why the edits had to be reverted. I am sorry if it was discouraging, but I was simply following Wikipedia's policies. It wasn't personal in any way. If there is any way I can be helpful in citing a source so that the content can be kept I would be happy to. -- Lenny Marks (talk) 13:37, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
