November 2015[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at WRVA (AM) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
WRVA carries a News/Talk/Sports format. What you are doing is adding a piped link to the Talk radio page, removing a News radio link (for some unknown reason) and sports altogether. Please stop now. You are verging on vandalism. NeutralhomerTalk • 12:39, 20 November 2015 (UTC) 12:39, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help me![edit]

Please help me with...

I am a person in the broadcasting industry and I've been trying to edit pages dealing with radio stations. I find that a couple of other people have been deleting my work. I think that they think it's wrong to include the current programming found on a given radio station. Does the station run shows like Rush Limbaugh or America in The Morning? I include this info and then I find it is deleted, sometimes less than ten minutes after I post it. Is someone monitoring me so closely that they know when I contribute, so they can quickly delete what I post?

I have to disagree that current programming should be deleted from Wikipedia pages on radio stations. I find it funny that past personalities and details about past programming don't get deleted, even minutia about long forgotten personalities and programs. But if I say that a station carries Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity, it's gone in a short amount of time.

Is someone over-zealous in editing my contributions? Again, I think they're using a specific clause that says too much detail about current programming may not be proper for an encyclopedia. But some programming info helps us understand what the station sounds like.

Thanks!

Station logo image[edit]

Hey, Steve, I took the liberty of uploading and adding station's logo image to the WLOB article. I saw and answered your question at the Help Desk (not sure if you saw it), and then just decided I'd give it a shot. Logo is cropped from full version. No problem if you want to try something else. DonFB (talk) 18:11, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad it worked out. After I saved the full logo from their website, I opened it in my little free photo/image editing program and cropped it, then saved--I didn't enlarge or reduce, just cropped. The Infobox forces it to fit. Wikipedia has endless rules and different instruction pages about copyright--that's the tricky part. I've nosed around Wikipedia a lot, so I'm a little familiar with where to find certain things. WP:Logos is a key page for this task. That page includes the {{non-free logo}} template which has to be included when uploading/creating the image file page. And the {{non-free use rationale 2}} (also known as "fair use") template also must be included. There must be about four or five ways to upload an image, and it still confuses me, but I knew I had to include both those templates during or after uploading. Important: Wikipedia Commons does not accept fair use images. Check out the links here and in my Help Desk answer--that'll get you started figuring out some of the copyright stuff. Sinclair Telecable[edit]

Some clarification regarding Sinclair Telecable, owners of radio stations in Norfolk, Santa Rosa and Austin, is not, in anyway, connected with Sinclair Broadcast Group, the company that owns over 100 television stations and 4 radio stations (5 if the sale to Tribune goes through). Sinclair Telecable was founded by Bob Sinclair of Norfolk, Sinclair Broadcast Group was founded by Julian Sinclair Smith of Baltimore. There is no relation between the two. So, please, don't connect Sinclair Telecable and Sinclair Broadcast Group on Sinclair Telecable-owner radio station pages, please. Thanks. - NeutralhomerTalk • 21:05 on February 21, 2018 (UTC)
