Orphaned non-free media (File:Logo of WSA.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Logo of WSA.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:36, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your squash bios. Do you mind if I add French spelling to Gregoire Marche per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/France & French-related? Cheers In ictu oculi (talk) 03:22, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Qatar Squash Federation, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.qatarsquash.com/about.htm.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) MadmanBot (talk) 19:09, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You should not remove maintenance templates if the issues haven't resolved as you did here. I have since remedied the copy and paste and fixed the article's style. Wikipedia will not tolerate copy violations and persistent violators may have their editing privileges removed. SwisterTwister talk 21:18, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article 2011 PSA World Series Finals has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:Notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wikipedia:Non-free content policy and guidelines

[edit]

Please do not place or replace any non-free images to any pages except for actual articles, as you did at User:Tc1591/Userboxes/Squash2020. Such use is a clear violation of point number 9 of our policy concerning the use of non-free images. Continuing to do so can be viewed as disruptive behaviour and you may be blocked from editing. Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, following a review of your contributions, I have enabled autopatrolled on your account. This does not affect your editing; rather, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please take note of the following points:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority.
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal.
  • You can display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page.
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it.
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask me. Otherwise, happy editing! Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:12, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
When I nominated you, I said, "All new articles look good and the editor is one of the few that adds all the "required" metadata (talk page banners and parameters, infoboxes, persondata, etc)". Thank you for adding all the metadata. I really appreciate you taking the time. Bgwhite (talk) 19:53, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tc1591, and thank you for your contributions!

Some text in an article that you worked on Canada national women's squash team, appears to be directly copied from another Wikipedia article, Canada national women's squash team. Please take a minute to double-check that you've properly attributed the source text in your edit summary.

It's entirely possible that this bot made a mistake, so please feel free to remove this notice and the tag it placed on Canada national women's squash team at any time. MadmanBot (talk) 16:03, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically WSA World Series 2011, may fail our non-free image policy. Squash at 2013 World Games pages

[edit]

Hi there. I was looking at the pages you created for squash at 2013 World Games. It would be good to explain how players qualified for the event, which could help explain why there are so many non-matches in the Round of 32. Also, why have list of matches for the Round of 32 and 16 and then a draw layout for the quarter finals to final rather than a draw layout right from the Round of 32? That's just a question of format choice; I don't know that one option is necessarily better than the other. Cheers. Trb333 (talk) 02:47, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Egyptian pyramids as venues for playing squash

[edit]

Was your addition of Category:Squash venues to Egyptian pyramids a slip-up of some kind, or has some pyramid actually been used as a place to play squash? I greatly doubt that pyramid chambers have the correct dimensions to play squash in or that Egyptian authorities would allow anyone to do so, but the world is very strange. If somebody has played squash in a pyramid, it would be better to put the category on that specific pyramid's article, as Egyptian pyramids in general are not commonly used as squash venues. A. Parrot (talk) 02:21, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clarifying. No, I didn't think it was a joke. I thought it might be some kind of error with one of those automated editing tools that some editors use. The SquashSite article you linked refers to "the all-glass court at the Giza Plateaux Cairo", and judging by the photographs, the matches took place right on the Giza Plateau (the site of the three best-known pyramids), so I think the Giza Plateau article would be the best place to put the category. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Squash TV requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Mean as custard (talk) 21:26, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TC1591, I've just deleted File:Laura Massaro 2013.jpg as the flickr page it came from had it listed as (c) All Rights Reserved rather than under a free licence. Note that you need to ensure when uploading from Flickr that the licence there matches the one used here - Peripitus (Talk) 11:21, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok - I've looked through the rest of your recent uploads and can see an issue. I've reversed the deletion of this file though. Note that it's a problem when you load something onto Flickr as (c) all rights reserved and here as GFDL/CC by-sa-3.0. I strongly suggest changing the flickr licences to the same one as here otherwise other's may well make the same error I did - Peripitus (Talk) 11:33, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Cayman Open squash venue.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cayman Open squash venue.jpg, which you've attributed to https://www.flickr.com/photos/85202066@N03/12953756345/. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:38, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given
