Wada Station (和田駅, Wada-eki) is a railway station in the city of Akita, Akita Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East).
Lines
[edit]Wada Station is served by the Ōu Main Line, and is located 285.4 km (177.3 mi) from the starting point of the line at Fukushima Station.
Station layout
[edit]The station has two opposed side platforms, connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station is staffed. Akita Shinkansen trains run through this station, using the tracks adjacent to Platform 1.

History
[edit]Wada Station opened on October 1, 1903 as a station on the Japanese Government Railways (JGR).[1] The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987.[1] A new station building was completed in February 2003.[citation needed]
