エリック・フェーゲリン（Eric Voegelin、1901年1月3日 - 1985年1月19日）は、ドイツ・アメリカの政治哲学者。

略歴[編集]

ドイツのケルンで生まれ、ウィーン大学で政治哲学を専攻。ハンス・ケルゼンとオトマール・シュパンに論文指導を受けた。1928年に教授資格を取得し、同大学で政治哲学と社会学を講じた。フリードリヒ・ハイエクと知りあい、長く親交を結ぶ[1]。1933年ナチズムの人種差別を批判した書物を2冊出版。1938年ナチスがウィーンを制圧したため、スイスに逃れ、まもなく夫婦で米国に移住、1944年市民権取得。この間、ノートルダム大学など複数の大学に勤めていたが、1942年ルイジアナ州立大学政治学部に職を得る。

1958年までバトンルージュに居住。同年ルートヴィヒ・マクシミリアン大学ミュンヘンに招聘された。マックス・ヴェーバー死去により1920年から空席になっていたポストである。学内に政治学研究所を設立した。1969年には米国に戻り、スタンフォード大学フーヴァー研究所に所属、死ぬまで研究を続けた。
