Стивен Джон Хант (англ. Stephen John Hunt; род. 1954) — британский социолог и религиовед, профессор социологии Университета Западной Англии.[3] Основной сферой научных интересов Ханта является социологическое изучение новых религиозных движений, в частности харизматического движения и неопятидесятнических церквей.[4]
В 1995 году защитил докторскую диссертацию в Редингском университете на тему пятидесятнического движения в США.[3] В период с 1988 по 2001 год преподавал на кафедре социологии Редингского университета и параллельно — на кафедре религиоведения Суррейского университета.[3]
Стивен Хант является автором ряда монографий: «Альтернативные вероисповедания: социологическое введение» («Alternative Religions: A Sociological Introduction»),[5] «The Life Course: A Sociological Introduction» (2005),[6] «Religion in Western Society» (2002)[7] и «The Alpha Enterprise» (2004).[8] Под его научной редакцией также была издана книга «Christian Millenarianism: From the Early Church to Waco».[9]
С 2006 года Стивен Хант является редактором научного журнала по изучению пятидесятничества «Pentecostudies».[10]
