Metilprednizolon

Metilprednizolon, esas olarak anti-inflamatuar ve immünosupresif etkileri için reçete edilen sentetik bir glukokortikoiddir.[1][2][3] Kronik hastalıklarda düşük dozlarda kullanılır, akut alevlenmelerde ise yüksek dozlarda kullanılır. Metilprednizolon ve türevleri oral veya parenteral olarak uygulanabilir.[4]
Ciddi yan etkiler arasında iyatrojenik Cushing Sendromu, hipertansiyon, osteoporoz, diyabet, enfeksiyon ve cilt atrofisi bulunur.[5]

Metilprednizolon, COVID-19 pandemisi sırasında reçete edilen bir ilaç olmuştur, ancak bu amaç için güvenli veya etkili olduğuna dair hiçbir kanıt yoktur.[6][7]
