This is a list of electricity-generating power stations in Jamaica, sorted by type and name.

In Jamaica, the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has a monopoly on the "transmission, distribution and supply of electricity".[1] However, JPS does not have a monopoly on electricity generation. Jamaica also has Independent Power Providers (IPPs) which "are private entities that own and operate facilities to generate electricity for sale to the national grid."[2]

  1. ^ Gold Street was operated by Jamaica Electric Light Company from 1892–1897, Jamaica Electric Light and Power Company from 1897–1907, West India Electric Company from 1907–1923, and then Jamaica Public Service Company from then until its decommissioning.
  2. ^ Unit 1 was commissioned in 1995 and Unit 2 in 2006.
  3. ^ A Station was commissioned in 1953–62, Units GT1 and GT2 in 1969–70, Units GT4 and GT5 in 1974, and B Station in 1976.
