Taher Gurab (Persian: طاهرگوراب), also Romanized as Ţāher Gūrāb; also known as Tāhir Gurāb and Takhergurab,[3] is a village in, and the former capital of, Taher Gurab Rural District[4] of Taher Gurab District, Sowme'eh Sara County, Gilan province, Iran, serving as capital of the district. The capital of the rural district has been transferred to the village of Now Kasht.[5]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 1,311 in 367 households, when it was in the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 1,331 people in 423 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,168 people in 396 households.[2]

After the census, the rural district was separated from the district in the formation of Taher Gurab District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the new Abatar Rural District.[5]
