Centered text[edit]

Why are all the names centered? It looks kinda odd that way, could we change it?★Trekker (talk) 02:55, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This template[edit]

This template definitely needs a lot of work. Firstly everything being centered just makes it hard to follow. Second we just seem to have a massive collection of lists of members for no reason. There is a page devoted to it already at List of New World Order members, yet that page is no where to be found here, which makes no sense. No reason to have Hall/Nash linked 7+ times in a navbox. In addition some other key nWo things should be included in here like Fingerpoke of Doom, Bash at the Beach (1996) and I have added a related section. Also I think members are missing from this list since I count 50 but the members page says 62, so I will need to go through that before going live with the list. I have also fixed things like formatting of how The Outsiders are listed (however perhaps members should just be members and the tag team gets moved down to related). Any thoughts?

Here is the current template:

Here is my proposed cleaner template:

I agree with the changes. We've gradually been trimming this navbox over time, it used to look like this. I would prefer that we keep the black and white color, color in navboxes seems to be a controversial topic. We might also want to link The Band (professional wrestling) in "Related", that article got spun off from the main nWo article last year.LM2000 (talk) 06:18, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hum, a while ago I would have agreed to the idea of removing double links to the same article but I've discussed it with other editors and I now feel there is an advantage to seeing what versions of a faction/stable someone was part of, even if it makes the navbox pretty big. The text being centered should definitely go. Neutral on the colors.★Trekker (talk) 14:16, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: Just wondering what reasons do you have for now feeling that? If you look at WP:NAV it says They should be kept small in size as a large template has limited navigation value. For navigating among many articles, consider: then the 4th item is Avoid repeating links to the same article within a template. To me the way this is currently set up goes against the main point and that last point.
I've always maintained previously that several links to the same article is a bad idea but when it comes to members of like I said I think it's good to see what incarnations they were part of. I don't know if it's becuse I've been nagged into submition by other projects users that having double links is ok but I do think it serves an actual purpose in this case with the members.★Trekker (talk) 09:18, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@LM2000: Great point about The Band, probably The Kliq should be included too. Just wondering why you think the coloring? I get Template:New York Yankees having coloring similar to Template:New York Knicks, as every sports team uses their color. I am not opposed to it if we have justification, but is there any other wrestling template that does? - GalatzTalk 14:43, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There was a discussion some months ago about colors in navboxes and it was decided that if the color didn't interfere with readability it would be inclued. After that some "smart guys" form other projetcs which seem to have their own ideas have removed the coloring several times and I'm guessing most of us got tired of resisting it over and over.★Trekker (talk) 14:49, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The color debate is more contentious than it should be and criteria is pretty subjective. McDonalds' navbox doesn't have color but Burger King's does and I don't really know why. My defense of the color for this navbox was that people would be able to tell the incarnations apart based on color (i.e. Wolfpac is the red one, 2000 is the silver one). Obviously if we don't list by incarnation that doesn't matter, but the black background and white border and letters still makes this instantly recognizable. Like Trekker, the color debate is something I've invested about as much time in as I want to, so I don't feel too passionately at this point.LM2000 (talk) 15:03, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Any thoughts about this?
