Template talk:US wx radar

Rationale of template layout

[edit]

Military is first because these were the first radars used to spot weather. They represent the "past", so to speak.

WSR's are next, having evolved from military radars, and they are the "present".

Research radars are last, because many of them are being updated even as we speak - they are the "future". I didn't include airborne radars, like the ones on NOAA's P-3 aircraft, only because I didn't take the time to do it yet. Please add these if you are so inclined.

I didn't add the many TV weather radars for two reasons - one, it would make this template long and obtrusive for where I've used it, and two, TV radars don't generally add to the "science" of weather radar - their job is to point out well-known phenomena to the public.

Dead articles/non-existent articles

[edit]

I noticed several non-existent articles on the template - I'm assuming those are to be created? If not, either I can do so, or those should probably be removed. Seems that this talk page has been hushed for more than a decade...Bryan C. W. (talk) 00:17, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
