Hello?[edit]

Hey Wongm, you haven't been replying to some past messages. I guess your busy with other things.

I recently created a Forums account on Vicsig site. It's really good because you can shar information with other people and vice versa and by that you things that you didn't know. I've made posts already.

My Vicsig Forum Username is Mr. V/Line. Try sending me a private message.

It would be good to get back in touch with you.

Hi again, I might see you around the forums a bit more, I haven't had that much time for Wikipedia over the past few months. Wongm (talk) 22:14, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! There is a question at German map lab if it wouldn't be better to change the colour of New South Wales in this map. Some might think Albury is a coast town cos NSW has got the same colour as the ocean. Would you like to change it? I don't want to do it myself as long as the creator of a map is still active at WP. If you don't want to do it I will upload a changed file with a different name so your version remains untouched. Thanks. --NNW (talk) 14:26, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now that you mention it, it makes sense. I will change it to a generic grey instead I think, I have a whole series of maps, this one is just a small crop of the bigger one. Wongm (talk) 22:12, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have fixed it up and reuploaded under the same name. Wongm (talk)

A tag has been placed on Sunshine Biscuits (Australia) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Regarding Vlocity Article[edit]

The change I made was correct on the article. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VLocity and go down to passenger experience. The photograph clearly shows 3 two-car sets, but the caption is wrong. All I did was to change that. Please look at the changes made before judging.

AfD nomination of Wall ball[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Wall ball. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wall ball. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:19, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain...[edit]

Could you please explain why you redirected Ship_lifts_in_China?

Could you please direct me to where you raised this redirection for discussion?

Thanks Geo Swan (talk) 01:35, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't being it up, as I didn't see it as controversial, I was just Wikipedia:Be bold and did it. List of boat lifts already existed, there isn't many "Thing X in country Y" type lists in existance, and the page in question was very short and will always be (unlike say "Cities in country Z"). Wongm (talk) 11:14, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think it was a mistake. It is long past the time when there should be a standalone article on the three gorges ship lift, and there should be a separate article on the lesser ship lifts. In my opinion Be Bold contains bad advice.
A short length is not a reason to merge articles. What is important about how we cover topics, and subtopics, is how they are interconnected. When a topic has multiple topics it is closely related to, which are not closely related to one another, it definitely should be a stand-alone article. Why? Because there are multiple paths through which an interested reader might reach it. The three gorges ship lift is the largest ship lift in the world. So it is strongly and closely linked to other shiplifts. It is also strongly and closely linked to the Three Gorges Dam. Shoehorning (some) of the details into a related article was a very grave disservice to readers who are interested in the ship lift relationship with the OTHER topic. The ONLY way to be fair is to have it be a standalone article, that can be equally easily reached with a wikilink from either topic.
If we let you, or some other mergist, unwisely merge topics related to multiple other topics, into one of the related articles, we guarantee some of the information we could cover will be off topic. If it is merged into 3 gorges dam, some information about the ship lift will be off-topic. If we merge it into the general article on shiplifts, some information on the 3 gorges dam will be off-topic. This general problem with merging is completely unavoidable, no matter where the article is merged.
So don't do it. Geo Swan (talk) 21:19, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wongm,

I have noticed that you have previously made quite a lot of edits on the Yarra Trams article, as a gunzel myself I have also noticed that you are on a couple of the railway forums such as Railpage AustraliaTM and that your opinion and knowledge on Public Transport issues are highly respected. I just wanted to bring to your attention that it has been suggested that the KDR Melbourne article and Yarra Trams article should be merged, it will appreciated if you express your opinion/suggestions on the matter here.

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:56, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, a couple of things about Astor Theatre. First, if there is no primary topic, the disambig should be at Astor Theatre instead of Astor Theatre (disambiguation). But that's not a big deal. The second is, per WP:FIXDABLINKS, we could use your help to point the links going to Astor Theatre to the correct article. Navigation popups with the popupFixDabs flag set to true is very helpful. --JaGatalk 16:22, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Town-square-yallourn.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Town-square-yallourn.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. A tag has been placed on Template:Geelong former LGAs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello, Wongm

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Goldsztajn and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've proposed an article that you started, 422 class, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criteria and I believe that the article obviously and uncontroversially does not belong in an encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Goldsztajn}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Wikiproject you may be interested in[edit]

Hi, there is currently a proposal for an Australian Transport Wikiproject. I thought you may be interested due to your edits and interests in transport in Australia. The proposal can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Australian Transport. If you are interested, add yourself to the Support section of the page. Thank you! (unsigned/undated)

It is up and running - you asked me all those years ago if it was a possibility - and it has happened after all the time passed. The critical mass has arrived, thanks for your interest then, its a few weeks since we discussed it, sorry about that. JarrahTree 07:07, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
