Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Rollergirl-DearJessiesingle.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Rollergirl-DearJessiesingle.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:14, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem: Le Courrier de la Nouvelle-Écosse[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Le Courrier de la Nouvelle-Écosse, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. MPs[edit]

Please note that a newly elected MP's swearing-in date in the MP role is not the same date as the formal "inauguration" of the Prime Minister and the cabinet. There is no one single date on which all new MPs are sworn in en masse; each MP is individually sworn in via their own private personal ceremony, all of which take place over the course of several days sometime between the election and the "inauguration" and none of which are reliably sourceable since even Parliament's own website doesn't denote the date. Accordingly, for our purposes, the beginning date of an MP's term as an MP is listed as the date of the election itself. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 04:41, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Canadaolympic989 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I have been indefinitely blocked. I should not be indefinitely blocked. I have made many positive contributrions to the Wikipedia community. I admit that I have made oversights in editing a few articles, which have violated copyrights, but for the 10 years I have been on this site, I have made my best efforts to contribute. An indefinite ban is not necessary and unjust, since I have not made significant disruption or threats of disruption, or major breaches of policy. I understand my errors.CanadaOlympic989 (talk) 19:11, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Please note that an indefinite ban is most certainly not an infinite ban. You need to convince us that you understand our copyright policies and will never again violate them. Once you've done that, the blocking admin or another admin would certainly consider lifting your block. Your block isn't a punishment, it's a way of ensuring you don't make any more edits unless and until you understand our WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FU (which are rather difficult policies to grasp). Yamla (talk) 19:43, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Canadaolympic989 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I have reviewed the WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FU in depth and understand that some of my previous edits were copypaste with a general citation. I understand the need to not simply re-use text and if so, in small portions with proper attribution. I have also reviewed the non-free content and understand the sourcing requirements and the no free equivalent criterion. I will be very careful in the future involving copyright and citations.

Accept reason:

Since you state that you have read and understand our copyright policy and intend to follow it in the future, I am unblocking your account. Further copyright violations will result in you being re-blocked. — Diannaa (talk) 03:57, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Scott Laughton[edit]

Hi Canadaolympic989,

do you remember where you got this middle name from? I often browse hockey players (for articles on dewiki) and stumble upon middle names which I can't verify with external sources. Thanks in advance. -- Hephaion (talk) 12:41, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Pierre LeBlanc[edit]

Hi, I'm TonyBallioni. Canadaolympic989, thanks for creating Pierre LeBlanc!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. If you could add additional sourcing and footnotes that would improve the article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Australian chart peaks[edit]

Hi, I reverted your change to the Australian chart peak for "Close to Your Heart" on the JX page, as the peak you added is incorrect. I'm not sure where you obtained the peak of 84 from, but I'm guessing it may be an Australian Music Report peak from one of David Kent's books. As you are from Canada, you may not be aware that the ARIA Chart has been Australia's official chart since late June 1988. For 5 years before then, ARIA licensed David Kent's chart, which had been Australia's official chart since May 1974. The Kent Report chart ceased publication in early 1998, but David Kent later released a chart book covering his charts from 1993 to 2006 inclusive, though I am not sure on what data he based his post-1998 charts. One reason his chart stopped being produced was likely because ARIA's chart was based on electronic point-of-sale data from March 1997; hence it was considered more accurate than his. Although I had already added a(n ARIA) chart book reference for Australian peaks outside the top 50 to this article, I've also uploaded a scan of the top 100 chart for the week "Close to Your Heart" fell out of the top 100 here http://i.imgur.com/wjmQ4Uk.jpg , where you can see its highest position (in the HP column) was #90. Please don't alter Australian chart peaks that are not listed on australian-charts.com (which only has top 50 peaks beginning from commencement of the ARIA-produced chart in June 1988) unless you have access to reliable ARIA sources.Nqr9 (talk) 16:05, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
