James Edward Asser is a British Labour politician and Member of Parliament.
Asser studied at the University of Central England (later re-named Birmingham City University) and was involved in its student union. He was later the National Union of Students' Vice-President of Welfare (1998 – 2000)[1] and was later co-chair of LGBT+ Labour.[2] In 2010, he and a group of LGBT+ Labour members were denied service in a London pub in an allegedly homophobic incident that year.[3]
He has been the Member of Parliament for West Ham and Beckton a member of the Labour Party since 2024.[4]
